VCN- On October 21, 2016, Teams 4 of the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department under the General Department of Vietnam Customs inspected 2 containers from Africa which included ivory tusks and pangolin scales at Cat Lai port.

Under the direction of the Director General of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Mr. Nguyen Van Can and the leaders of the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department leadership, and the Anti-smuggling and Intellectual Property Control Team (Team 4) collaborated with the Customs Branch of Saigon port, Zone 1 (the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Customs), the Crime Prevention Police Department (C74- the Ministry of Public Security) to check two containers from Africa which included ivory tusks and pangolin scales at Cat Lai port.
The smuggled goods were hidden in hollow logs with the size of 30-40cm wide, 2m length, tightly glued as normal logs
The enterprise importing the 2 containers operates in HCM City.
The incident will continue to be investigated by Team 4 of the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department.
