Provincial and municipal customs departments should direct their subordinate units to strengthen inspection and control of imports of N2O gas used not in line with purposes declared with Customs or incorrectly declared on goods name (declared as other industrial gas other than N2O) to avoid obligation on observance of regulations on chemical management under Government Decree No. 113/2017/ ND-CP dated October 9, 2017.
The General Department of Vietnam Customs has requested units closely inspect enterprises importing industrial gas tanks or industrial gas.
It also required units to coordinate with local agencies in preventing smuggling, trade fraud and exchanging information with police, tax and market surveillance forces to know operation of enterprises regularly importing, manufacturing and trading in the areas, update information on new tricks and apply measures to handle violations when detecting smuggled N2O gas.
The measures aim to promptly prevent and handle the illegal imports of N2O to make “funky balls” that affect consumers' health and social security.
