Over 40,000 tons of sulfur in Hoang Dieu port is not in the prohibited list

VCN – Sulfur is an import-export item that is usually complete customs procedure at Hoang Dieu port (Hai Phong province) since many years.

Regarding to the information of more than 40,000 tons of sulfur stored at Hoang Dieu ports, Hai Phong is at risk of fire, on 16/10, discussing with reporters Customs, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien - Manager of Hai Phong port area 1 Customs Branch (Hai Phong Customs Department) - management unit of Hoang Dieu port said that sulfur is implemented customs procedures for many years at Hoang Dieu port. According to the project, Hoang Dieu port is the port area that implements export procedures for bulk cargo (not packaging in the container) mainly in Hai Phong, including sulfur item.

"Over the past decades, this item has been done the procedure in there and has not received any comments on safety issues. This is not a prohibited item, so customs authority still has to carry out procedures for customs clearance of normal goods for businesses, "said Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien.

It is known that the sulfur is originated from the Middle East and is in transit through Hoang Dieu port in order to export to China. After consignment is landed, it will be transferred to specialized carriages for export to China via Lao Cai border gate.

For many years, Traco 1 Company has done procedures for this item, the enterprise complete procedures for about 100,000 tons per year in average. From the beginning of 2017 until now, the company has completed the procedures for 3 shipments with a total weight of 90,000 tons (including more than 40,000 tons that have just been imported to Hoang Dieu port and is currently stored).

It is known that, due to the recent flood situation, the transport of goods to Lao Cai for exporting to China is more difficult, thus the cargo has to be kept at Hoang Dieu port.
