Specifically, the total import and export turnover reached US$ 61.696 billion, increasing by 16.4% compared to 2017, of which the import and export turnover of taxable goods increased 5.6%.
The significant increase in import and export turnover helped Hai Phong Customs Department’s revenue to reach over VND 50 trillion.
In 2018, the Hai Phong Customs Department’s revenue was VND 54,982 billion, reaching 109.8% compared to the target assigned by the Ministry of Finance (VND 50,050 billion), reaching 108% of the desired target assigned by the General Department of Vietnam Customs (VND 50,640 billion), a year-on-year increase of 3.7%.
The revenue is positive in the context that many commodities are affected by the tariff reductions under free trade agreements, especially when considering the import duty rate for over 90% of commodities under the ATIGA Agreement reduced to 0%.

According to Hai Phong Customs Department, besides the reason for the increase in turnover, the increase in revenue also stems from the facts that the Department has actively reformed administrative procedures and paid attention to the role of businesses in self-compliance of the law, implemented the agreement on development of Customs-Business Partnership right from the beginning of 2018, facilitating the business development and improving the business environment of Hai Phong city in particular and the country in general.
In 2019, Hai Phong Customs Department still continues to implement the policies by further listening and facilitating import and export businesses, and implementing the directions of the Government, the Ministry of Finance and the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
