Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch co-ordinated with Airport Security Center, Drug Enforcement Unit - Ho Chi Minh Customs Department, the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department - General Department, Police Division investigation of drug-related crime (PC47) and the Police Department investigation of drug-related crime (C47) has arrested a 76-year-old woman, Australian citizen, for illegal drug trafficking from Vietnam to Australia via the Tan Son Nhat international airport.
By professional measures, Customs officials and functional force found nearly 3kg (9 packs) of heroin wrapped in nylon, inside 5 bottles of anabas fish sauce which were mixed with some food and personal effects.
The arrested women claimed participating in gambling in Australia and was forced into trafficking drug by a smuggler. The market value of the drugs seized is about USD 720,000.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch coordinate with police agencies continue to investigate the case.
