According to the General Department of Taxation's statistics, as of August 31, 2019, the tax agency has implemented actions to urge debt collection and collected 22,117 billion dong of tax debt, increasing by 4.8% compared with the same period in 2018.
The General Department of Taxation also said that at this time, the total tax debt has decreased by 8.4% compared to December 31, 2018. Of which, tax debt to 90 days and over 90 days (able to be collected) made up 52.7% of the total tax debt (down 13.9% compared to the same period in 2018); irrecoverable tax debts (of taxpayers who have died, gone missing, lost civil act capacity, related to criminal liability, dissolved, went bankrupt or terminated production activities business, no longer operating at the registered business address) made up 47.3% of the total tax debt (up 10.2% compared to the same period in 2018).
Although the recovery of tax debt in the first 8 months of the year has changed in a positive way, the tax debt does not exceed 5% of total state budget revenue, from now until the end of the year, the General Department of Taxation said that they will continue to closely monitor and supervise the tax debt recovery work, as well as urging the enforcement of debt of tax departments.
The whole taxation sector will collect, calculate the structure of tax debt, classify debts and identify the causes of increased debts. Along with that is the evaluation of the results to collect debt and monthly debt enforcement of the tax departments and notify the list of debtor businesses to the provincial tax department.

In addition to thoroughly implementing measures to recover debts and enforce tax debts, the General Department of Taxation said it will direct tax departments to coordinate with local authorities to solve difficulties and problems (if any) to businesses paying tax debts.
