According to the leader of Saigon NewPort Corporation, from 30/4 until now, due to the amount of shipments stuck at port being high, many goods were imported at Cai Mep port and Hiep Phuoc with port of destination Cat Lai, have still not transferred to the destination port yet. It seriously affect the progress of delivery goods to consignees.
At Tan Port - Hiep Phuoc port, more than 1,500 teu have not been transferred to Cat Lai port. Also, 12,178 teu that are in Cai Mep ports have not transferred to Cat Lai port yet.
Currently, the cargoes stuck at Cai Mep port is quite large, because 85% of cargo are imported to Cai Mep port to be transferred to Ho Chi Minh City by barge, in that almost all cargoes are moved to Cat Lai port.
The above situation has caused difficulty to businesses that has led to complaints about the long wait. There are businesses that have opened customs declarations to import goods, but due to the traffic jam, the customs declaration validity period has nearly expired, and there is still no cargo for carrying out customs procedure.
